The Past, Present, and Future of Biodynamics

The future starts with you!

<http://www.pfeiffercenter.org/workshops> The biodynamic movement began with Rudolf Steiner's 1924 lectures, "The Spiritual Foundations for the Renewal of Agriculture." 85 years later, on January 15-19, 2009, you can revisit those fundamental beginnings with The Agriculture Course: An Intensive Study of the Origins and Future of Biodynamics. A flyer with the full schedule <http://www.pfeiffercenter.org/agcourse>  for the weekend is now available, and it looks very exciting!

Note that this event is intended for those with experience in Biodynamics (not an introductory course). It is an ideal opportunity for graduates of the One-year Part-time Training in Biodynamics to refresh their knowledge and reconnect with one another, as many have requested; and for all biodynamic farmers and gardeners from far and wide to meet and learn.

You may use the flyer  <http://www.pfeiffercenter.org/agcourse> to register. Please contact Mimi Satriano <mailto:mimi@threefold.org>  (mimi@threefold.org or 845-352-5020 x15) with any questions.

For beginners, we have another much-requested new offering: Beginning a Vegetable Garden on March 28 with Mac Mead will help you get your own garden growing this spring. Topics covered will include: planning the garden (what goes where and when), preparing the soil, fencing the garden, planting and raising seedlings, companion planting, and weeding and mulching. If you've been wanting to get started but were not sure how, or even if you have some experience but find you are missing some information, this workshop is for you! Click here for a general registration form <http://www.pfeiffercenter.org/workshops/register.asp?BeginDate=12/9/2008&EndDate=5/8/2009>  or for more details, contact us <mailto:lory@pfeiffercenter.org> .

Did you ever wonder how the Pfeiffer Center got its name? An article by Bill Day in the current issue of  Biodynamics journal tells the story of a remarkable man and his role in the biodynamic movement in the United States, as well as the origins of what is now the Threefold Educational Center. "Ehrenfried Pfeiffer, the Threefold Community, and the Birth of Biodynamics in America <http://www.biodynamics.com/threefold-day> "  helps us appreciate the gifts we have been given in the past, even as we look toward the future.

We hope to see many of you in 2009, and wish all of you a New Year full of growth and transformation.
